GRIP Axle Dimensions
One Rev D axle at GRIP proportions with 2.5 m wheels and a 1.5 m body, drawn to scale from the 3D model. All figures in metres. The body is centred on the axle, so the car sits the same way up or upside down.

The body's sides taper toward front and back and lean in toward both skins. That lets the tyre sit 0.12 from the body at the axle line and still steer to full lock with full bump or rebound, keeping at least 0.045 clear.
A box-section keel runs down the spine's centreline from the back cap into the prow. It stiffens the spine and carries the batteries, inverters, pumps, cooling, wiring and a central duct. The fuel sits in matching left and right bladders either side of it, joined by valved crossfeed lines, one near the top and one near the bottom. Two power bridges per wheel, one high and one low, cross the fuel from the keel to the steering arc; each carries a full feed, so either one alone can drive the wheel.
Wheel travel is about 0.36 each way: 0.28 from the casing's 12° swing (the first 0.06 free, then Stage 3) plus 0.08 from Stage 1. Stage 1 also lets the wheel slide 0.08 fore-aft without turning it; the casing itself is keyed so it only swings up and down. Because it never turns, the casing is an octagon from the ball to the tyre, 0.59 across, with flat top and bottom faces under the Stage 3 plates, and goes round (0.56) only inside the wheel. The Stage 3 plates are hinged right above the ball joint, on a closed frame: solid decks off the spine wall, top and bottom, sitting on pillars that carry each stopper straight on, at its own angle, out to the hinge line. Between each deck and the skin is a bay for the gravity plating's high-voltage power units, right next to the plates they feed. The gravity plating is drawn 4 cm thick on each face, still an assumption. Only one axle is shown: the body section here is 1.94 long, and the full car repeats the axle at a 3.47 m wheelbase.
